Ink Technician

Reports to: Ink Room Team Lead
Supervises: Not Applicable

Job Summary

Responsible for the overall operation of the ink manufacturing which includes the following:

  • Prepares all inks, thinners, retarders and ink-related items for shipment to customers.
  • Mixes standard and matched color ink, sample ink batches and performs color check per color specifications. Estimates quantity of ink to be mixed.
  • Assists with incoming and outgoing shipments and performs other maintenance tasks as requested.
  • Matches sample ink requests by comparing customer’s sample with standard color card or by custom- blending to get exact match. Selects ink based on substrate to be printed and properties desired by customer.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of inks, thinners, retarders, hardeners, containers and other ink-related items and places re-orders with General Manager when necessary.
  • Assists with the loading and unloading of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Assists Chief Operating Officer and General Manager with inventory control.
  • Assists with samples testing when requested.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment, while ensuring that all safety guidelines are followed for the storage of or disposal of hazardous materials that are assigned to the work area.
  • Completes other task and or assignments as required by management.
  • Responsible for the quality and adequacy of own work.

Accountabilities/Scope

Interfaces: Production management personnel, engineering, customers.

People Managed: May provide guidance and direct work of others.

Decisions: Under minimal supervision, works alone or as part of a team.

Impact of Error:  Impact is on quality, order accuracy and timeliness of product delivery to the customer.

 

Knowledge/Skills

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Mobility requirements include standing, walking, reaching, bending.
Ability to use the computer to conduct the necessary inquiries and transactions.
Ability to read and follow written and or verbal instructions.
Good communications and interpersonal skills.
Use of measurement devices, power tools and equipment.
Maintain accurate and complete records.

Education and or Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Technical Services Specialist – Pad Printing Products

Reports to:  Technical Services Manager
Supervises:  Not Applicable

Job Summary

Performs specialized mechanical duties related to the inspection, customization, maintenance and repair of pad printing equipment and machinery. Responsibilities include technical assistance / support for the following: Custom pad development; Custom pad mold production; Cliché testing; Custom fixture design testing; Customer training on machine operation; and check-listing machines for shipment.

  • Provides technical support, machine installations and training to customers on-site and over the phone.
  • Provides technical assistance to the Pad Department for custom pad development and pad mold manufacturing.
  • Assist Plate Department with cliché parameters and artwork proofing.
  • Assist in sampling by providing temporary fixtures as required.
  • Prepares machines and conducts in-house training for new customers and demonstrations for potential customers.
  • Works with Managers of both Production and Engineering to test and critique design of machine fixtures.
  • Provides phone assistance to customers in need of product marking technical support.
  • Completes other tasks and or assignments as required by management.
  • Responsible for the quality and accuracy of own work.

Accountabilities / Scope:

Interfaces – Customers, Vendors, Technical Service Dept., intercompany personnel, and Management;
People Managed – None on a direct basis. May be required to provide guidance;
Decisions – On an as-needed basis; Apply discretion as to limits;
Impact of Error – Critical; Decisions and actions can cause customer dissatisfaction.

Knowledge/Skills

Competent working knowledge of electro-mechanical technologies, pneumatics, equipment and related applications and processes;
Familiarity with Durometer settings and Pad chemistry;
Working knowledge of solvent-based inks;
Ability to troubleshoot problems and provide solutions;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point);
Able to lift up to 50 pounds;

Education and or Experience

High school diploma or technical school certificate; Plus 5+ years of manufacturing experience and broad knowledge of machine controls, electrical systems, and tooling;
