Any Part, Any Color, No Setup: Flexible Inkjet Decoration for Promotional Goods

One flatbed multi-pass inkjet decorates a constantly changing mix of promotional parts — zero plate setup, custom jigs for fast loading, and extended-gamut color that hits corporate brand standards on demand.

Traditional decorating punishes variety. Screen printing and pad printing each need a plate or cliché made per color, per design — so a four-color corporate logo means four plates, registration setup, and ink mixing before a single good part comes off the line. For a shop running many small, frequently changing jobs, that setup time is the cost problem: the press spends more time being changed over than it spends printing.

Color was the second problem. Promotional work lives or dies on hitting a customer’s exact brand color, and standard CMYK process printing can’t reach many of the saturated oranges, greens, and blues that corporate identities are built on. Matching those meant custom spot inks — more setup, more mixing, more downtime — multiplied across every job.

EPS deployed a flatbed multi-pass UV inkjet — the fJET-24 platform. There are no plates and no screens: the artwork goes straight from a digital file to the bed, so a new job is a new file, not a new tooling build. The print carriage traverses the flat bed in multiple passes, laying down white plus full color and pin-curing each pass with integrated UV-LED as it goes. Changing products means changing the file and the jig — nothing else.

To make loading fast and registration repeatable, EPS builds custom jigs for each part family. The jig’s milled pockets locate every part in exactly the same place, so the same print file drops onto every part with no manual alignment. On color, the line runs an extended-gamut ink set — CMYK plus orange, green, and violet (OGV) — stretching the reachable gamut well past standard process color, so saturated brand colors are hit directly from the file with no custom spot-ink mixing.

Drop parts into a custom jig

Flat parts are dropped into a custom EPS jig whose milled pockets locate each one precisely. A full bed of parts loads in seconds, with no manual alignment — and the same print file drops onto every part the same way.

Multi-pass color, straight from the file

The multi-pass carriage indexes across the bed, laying down white plus CMYK + OGV color directly from the digital artwork. No plates, no screens, no spot-ink mixing — the saturated corporate brand colors come straight from the file.

Step 03
Cure · Instant

UV-LED pin-cure on the fly

Integrated UV-LED pin-cures the ink as the carriage passes, so color is locked the instant it's laid down — no separate dryer, no flash-off wait. Parts come off the bed dry and ready to pack.

One tray prints while the next is loaded — zero changeover, continuous throughput
Step 04
Load while printing

Continuous loading, zero changeover

While one tray prints, the operator loads the next. Printed parts come off and fresh parts go on with no press changeover in between, keeping the bed working continuously — the line never stops to be set up.

No plate or screen setup

A new job is a new digital file, not a new tooling build. The single biggest cost in high-mix decoration — changeover — is engineered out.

Custom jigs, continuous loading

A full bed loads in seconds; printed parts come off while the next tray prints, so the line keeps working between jobs.

Instant UV-LED cure

Parts come off the bed dry and ready for immediate packaging — no separate dryer, no flash-off wait.

Brand color from file

Extended-gamut CMYK + OGV hits saturated corporate oranges, greens, and blues directly — no custom spot-ink mixing.

One line, any flat part

Hang tags, lenses, guitar picks, envelope openers, coasters and more — an open-ended mix on a single platform.

Lowest total decoration cost

For a high-mix promotional shop the real cost is setup. Remove it and the cost per piece falls — even at short runs.
