Industry · Packaging Decoration

Decoration speed that matches your line.

Direct-to-object printing for caps, closures, bottles, tubes, and packaging at production volume.

Manufacturers running packaging lines have two problems traditional decoration can't solve at once: speed and SKU agility. EPS engineers single-pass digital systems that handle 2,000+ caps per minute, eliminate plate inventory, and change SKUs in seconds — designed around the actual part geometry and substrate, built in Vermont.

What we mean by packaging

Decoration that doesn't slow the line.

Packaging decoration lives between two impossible demands: production speed at the volume of an offset press, and the SKU agility of a digital workflow. EPS has built the only system topology that solves both at once — single-pass direct-to-object inkjet with EPS-engineered automation around it.

No plates, no clichés, no per-impression tooling costs. Variable data prints serialization, lot codes, and brand-protected anti-counterfeit marks at line speed. Robot loading, flame pre-treatment, vision inspection, and automated reject keep the line running without operator intervention. Cap-and-closure lines run at 2,000 ppm. Aluminum bottles run at 80 cans/min before forming. The economics pay back in months, not years.

Applications

Where EPS packaging systems run today.

A sample of the packaging applications EPS engineers. The list extends through pharma, cannabis, food and beverage, cosmetics, and industrial packaging — these are the highest-volume.

Caps, Lids & Closures

High-speed cap and closure decoration with hopper feed, air conveyor, flame pre-treat, and inline inspection. Pharma CRC, beverage caps, food lids, cosmetic closures, industrial container caps. Pad + multi-pass + single-pass — engineered to the SKU mix.

Kingston Aluminum: 100th unit, 80 cans/min, patented Alumishape™.

EPS celebrated its 100th single-pass DTO sale by engineering Kingston Aluminum Technology's Alumishape™ aluminum bottle line — a flexible single-pass system that prints before bottle forming, allowing the containers to be shaped after decoration without distorting the artwork. The system delivers 80 cans per minute and sets a new benchmark for post-formed aluminum packaging.

“Finding a print solution was a long process for us. With our new technology, we had been through a lot of testing, and it was proving to be a major challenge. Working with EPS was a completely different process compared to other solutions. EPS provides quick response times, creativity, and the ability to problem solve.”

The right EPS platforms for packaging

Three platforms cover most of packaging decoration.

Match the platform to your part geometry and volume. EPS integrates the rest of the cell around it.

XD-108 Series

Cap & closure single-pass · 700–2,000 ppm

High-speed single-pass cell for caps, lids, and small-format closures. Hopper feed, air conveyor, flame pre-treat, full inspection and reject. Replaces offset for variable-art packaging.

Why EPS for packaging

Forty years of decoration engineering — now at single-pass speeds.

What separates EPS from a generic packaging press: we engineer the whole cell, not just the printer.

Cell engineering around the part

Caps, tubes, bottles, and closures all have different geometry, substrate, and throughput targets. EPS designs the loading, pre-treatment, print engine, inspection, and unload as one cell — built around the part, not bolted onto a generic printer.

Substrate chemistry expertise

Our chemistry team validates ink and pre-treatment against your actual packaging substrate before the line ships. Failing adhesion at line speed is failing the customer. We don't ship until the substrate test passes.

Zero plate inventory

No plates, no clichés, no per-impression tooling cost. Variable data prints batch codes, lot numbers, and brand-protected anti-counterfeit at line speed. SKU changes happen in seconds.

Packaging line support

Packaging cells run inside continuous manufacturing environments. If the line stops, finished goods don't ship. EPS engineering support is part of the deal.
