EPS customized a standard KP05 bench-mounted printer to achieve high-volume production of 8,000 pieces per hour with minimal operator involvement. The system uses a bowl feeder to align parts and direct them through the printing process, followed by infrared drying to ensure images are ready for downstream operations.
The technical challenges
- Being able to efficiently feed the parts to keep up with the printer
- Custom pads designed to print multiple images simultaneously
- Processing delicate components without damage
- Achieving sufficient drying time before further handling
The automated system prints eight pieces per stroke, requiring precise image placement on each part during every cycle.
